DataScrut is a writing analytics tool for educators. By installing the Chrome extension or using the web dashboard at www.datascrut.com, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
You must be at least 18 years old and use DataScrut only for legitimate educational purposes with Google Docs you are authorised to access.
DataScrut reads Google Docs revision history to surface writing patterns, paste activity, and group contribution. Results are indicators for further review, not proof of academic misconduct. Do not take disciplinary action based solely on DataScrut output — always follow your institution's procedures and speak with the student directly.
Our data practices are described in our Privacy Policy. In short: document content never leaves your browser, and we store only anonymous usage counters linked to an opaque account ID — never your name, email, or student data.
DataScrut is currently free to use. We may introduce paid features in the future — these will always be clearly disclosed before any charge is made. We may update or discontinue features with reasonable notice.
DataScrut is provided as-is. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that results will be accurate in every case. We are not liable for decisions made on the basis of DataScrut output.
If you have a concern, email us at hello@datascrut.com and we will work to resolve it. We aim to respond within 14 days.
We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the date above and notify signed-in users of meaningful changes. Continued use means you accept the updated terms.
